Most content calendars fail for the same reason: they’re built around publish dates instead of around a small number of core arguments worth making.
Start with arguments, not topics
I map 4-6 core positions I want to be known for, then generate topics as expressions of those positions. This keeps twelve weeks of content cohesive without feeling repetitive.
The two-hour planning session
One hour to confirm the core arguments are still right, one hour to map topics and formats against them. Anything that doesn’t map to an argument gets cut.
