Search results increasingly answer the question before a click happens. Here’s what’s still worth ranking for — and what isn’t.

AI-generated overviews now answer a large share of informational queries directly in the results page. That has genuinely reduced click-through for pure definition and how-to content.

Comparative content, original data, and anything requiring judgment rather than retrieval still pulls clicks, because an overview can’t safely summarize a recommendation.
